Spotlight on EZLink (From 9/1/02)

Right now, EZlink...

Has installed brand new computers in their Fullerton-Jeffries FIA lab. The 10 unit computer lab is now ready for use and training!

EZLink is actively participating in summer programs and parties for youth in block clubs surrounding the Noble School area. They sponsored the water slide and provided food and games for the Birwood Block Club Association on Saturday, August 10th, 2002

This fall...

Working with a team of undergraduates, EZLink will implement a writing and visual arts program in Fall 2002 for 20 Noble School elementary and middle school students. Using computer technology, students will create and publish an edited text and "e-volume" of poems and short stories for the school. Students will also learn the basics of African-American and Impressionist art, culminating in an elegant art fair poster session in December 2002.

Experience has shown...

In his presentation in September, Dr. Larry Gant discussed the lessons learned from setting up a community collaboratoy. Here are his key points:

  1. Good theory + solid research design + good people = great community programs in service to social justice!

  2. It's important to work through rough spots and transitions with community residents.
