Affecting Michigan's Public Policy on Teen Pregnancy

Technology Use

Calhoun County

Jay Connor talks about the importance of using technology for real communication. Watch the Quicktime movie. (35 sec.)

Online Community web-based site: to post activity and information. The site was started in October 2001. The partners have been actively using the site since GPY introduced and demonstrated the site at the January 2002 Monthly Meeting. The site now has more than 30 members and has supported community outreach efforts of the group. Furthermore, the partners wrote and commented on a response to an editorial concerning statutory rape and pregnancy. This was the first public document the collaboratory partners had agreed to publish. Now they are actively using the site to rename their group and prepare to include more people from the community. They have an online archive of their minutes, agendas, and other materials to ease the initiation of new members.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS): to map teen pregnancy statistics and to map distribution of assets, needs, transportaion system, and school locations for Community Literacy.
